Yup! I drink Clay and it tasted like smoothie.

I know what you are thinking. Clay? That’s disgusting! I often get a strange sickening look on friends’ face as they watched me make this drink and gobbled it down like a smoothie. To their amazement they wondered why in the world would I make a drink out of dirt and love drinking it.  Here is why!

I used bentonite clay. This clay came from weathered and aged volcanic ash which appeared in ashy green/grey/or cream color (anything white is not pure). It was first discovered in France called Montmorillon. Today it is widely available in Fort Benton, Wyoming, Italy, and France. Minerals such as silica, calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron, and potassium are formed in the clay. When adding the clay to water, the negative charges works like a magnet to absorb and remove toxins, chemicals, impurities, and heavy metals. Because we are mainly familiar with using clay for external purposes such as body wrap, soaking, and facial mask, it's hard to accept that it can be useful internally.

In fact using clay for health purposes is not new. It has been around since life began on this planet. Our ancestors incorporated into their daily diet to ensure proper mineralization. Many inhabitants of Native Tribes and India have continued to consume small amounts of the Earth’s clay to relieve any ingestion of hazardous food and contaminated waters. All mammals, birds, insects, and flies do it instinctively to help with digestion and release toxic compounds out of the body

“Eat dirt and live longer” was what my mother used to say while growing up as I helped her prepping our daily meals. During the time I didn’t understand what she had meant until I’ve gotten older. So she explained “anything that is not grown with soils is not real foods. Just because it contained some soils do not mean it’s dirty. It is the soils that feed the plants with its minerals, nutrients and vitamins. It can do the same for our body when eating a bit of it too.”

In our modern culture we are being lectured to wash our hands and fight against germs that we had forgotten what our body is make up in the first place. We are one big giant bacteria and virus ourselves. How many parents are actually encouraging their children to eat dirt or even play in the mud today? The idea of allowing the child to get their hands & feet dirty had imprisoned our immune system from being exposed to the microbes in the environment to swing this balance. Perhaps it is time for us to return to our primitive nature in order for our immune system to follow through with this check and balance.

Drinking clay is not for everyone. I used the clay to release my body of excessive hormone and sugar. Remember it’s about check and balance. The body also needs time to process the minerals before it can detox without being overloaded. I drink it every 3-4 days and break 2-3 days. Since I am constantly moving around on the weekend, my water consumption is much less than usual which do not help to oxygenate the cells in my body. The clay also helped to eliminate the electronic ion charges while I am on the computer during the week. So I break on weekend as well. In doing so, I have discovered higher energies, focus, better digestion, healthier gut flora, improve dehydration and liver function.
Other Benefits included:  regulated bowels, relief from diarrhea, indigestion, and ulcers, better digestion of food and drink, higher energy, clearer skin, eczema, psoriasis, candida, whiter and brighter eyes, more alertness, emotional uplift, less tension, enhanced growth and tissue repair of gums and skin, stimulated immune system, higher resistance to infectious agents, aids in the absorption of nutrients, helps support healthy gut flora, supports parasite removal from the gut, help to correct the imbalances in bacteria of the GI tract, and more.

*Before working with bentonite clay internally, be sure to consult your doctor if you’re currently undergoes any physical ailments or taking any medications there may be some contraindications* Also drinking between 8-10 glasses of water is highly necessary. Here is my recipe: 1 ts of bentonite clay, ½ ts of organic beet powder, ½ organic super green powder, ¼ organic aloe powder. Allow the clay to sit for a few hours before mixing and drink. It will be much smoother. Avoid using metal utensil to mix the clay.
